ALIGN YOURSELF WITH A LEADER

Deuteronomy 3:28 “But command Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see.’”

Moses was God’s chosen vessel to lead the Children of Israel. Judging by the scriptures, Joshua was to be a young man who was paying attention to Moses’ leading abilities. Joshua was faithful, loyal, and courageous before God.

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you”. Joshua 1:1-5.

We need to be preparing ourselves to lead God’s people. We need to be training men to teach, preach, evangelize, lead singing, lead prayer, officiate the Lord’s supper, and so much more.

It is our responsibility to teach our children the importance of these things. They need to understand that the most important thing in this life is preparing themselves for the life that comes after this one.

One day it may be that you need to step up and be courageous, leading God’s people in righteousness.

Will you be ready?

LEARN FROM A LEADER

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.  And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also”.                        2 Timothy 2:1-2

Learning from faithful men how to be strong in the knowledge of our Lord is a blessing. We must put ourselves in the position to be counted worthy. We can see in the text that there is a distinction drawn between some that will be able to teach and those that probably won’t. However, I don’t see in the text that people are exempt from trying.

We have a dilemma in the church today. There is a lack of leaders. I implore you today to make a decision to be a leader. Make a decision to teach your children to be leaders. Make a decision to teach your children that the church is the most important thing on this earth, and every other thing comes second.

Teach the new converts that one day they will be the leaders, preachers, deacons and elders etc.

THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD IS WORTH CONTENDING FOR

“Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” Jude 3

If we fail to teach our youth and new converts the importance of following the example of New     Testament Christianity and all its majesty, they will lose their identity.

We need to teach everyone, not just the people we think would be good leaders. We cannot rely on our human reasoning to choose which people should lead. We must fulfill our commission and teach all Christians all things concerning the church.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20

WILL YOU BE A LEADER?

Will you choose to change your mind and realize that you may be the one the Lord needs to do great things?

“and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”. Romans 12:2

Will you draw a line in the sand and stand for the Lord and His church? Draw the line and say I will not transgress the great faith that has been delivered to me. I will stand with the Lord and lead God’s people in ways of righteousness. I will teach my children to draw the line and do the same. (1Timothy 4:6)

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves”. James 1:22

Will you keep the pattern and teach your children and new converts the same?

“Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 1:13

We must choose to lead the people of God because eternity is too long to be separated from Him. Beloved Brethren, life is too short and eternity is too long for you not to do your part to lead God’s people.

Eternity is too long to let our children figure it out on their own. Eternity is too long to let new Christians figure it out on their own. Eternity is too long to make the decision to be a leader.
