The Bible makes us free.

John 8:31-32 “31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The Bible is the source of truth that God has given us to free us from sin. When we study the Bible, the truth is made known to us. This truth is vastly different from the instruction and teaching we receive from the world. Jesus says that if we gain knowledge of this truth, we will indeed be free. We must ask ourselves if we are availing ourselves to the Book and the Truth that is in it.

The Bible makes us wise.

2 Timothy 3:14-15 “14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

God has been very clear. The Holy Scriptures are what make us wise. The Word of God should be taught to us from a young age. This helps the young build a foundation which in turn will help them stand in their day of adversity. Have you been teaching your children God’s word? Not by bringing them to church, but at home and in your daily lives? The most important thing that you will ever do for your children is give them the knowledge and tools to get to heaven.

The Bible gives us light and helps us to not sin.

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.”

The Bible helps us make sense of things in the dark world in which we live. The Bible helps us to live full lives. It helps us to make the best decisions in our lives. It will guide us through tough times. It will help our marriages. It will help us raise our children. It will give s comfort, hope, and peace. The question we need to ask ourselves is, have we utilized God’s help to show us the light and be our light?

Psalm 119:11 “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

The Bible helps us by changing our minds and molding us into the moral and ethical beings God intended us to be.  This is how the truth sets us free (John 8:32). When we know the truth, we can then use this information to make the choice that best avoids sin and the separation from God that it holds. Are we using the Bile as a manual that helps us stay in God’s good graces, or are we using the Bible as a decoration in our houses?

The Bible gives us instructions to live by.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The most important thing for a Christian is to know how to live righteously. God in His infinite wisdom has left us great instruction. The Bible makes us complete and ready to work the will of God in our lives. The Bible teaches us when we are wrong and guides us to correction. We must have an open heart, one that is ready for change. We must allow the Bible to equip us for the work. This means that we must read it. If we don’t read it, what can it do for us?

The Bible saves us.

James 1:21 “Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”

Along with correction and guidance, God offers the implanting of the Word. If we as Christians are truly transformed (Romans 12:1-2) then we have allowed the Word of God to dwell in our hearts. Our conscience then becomes aware of right and wrong and what God would want us to do. It is then that we can use the Word of God to save our Souls. Remember, if we don’t read it how can it work in us?

The Bible will purify our Souls.

1 Peter 1:22 “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,”

Upon reading the Bible, one can see that our souls can be clean and pure. The Bible gives us the information we need to have a relationship with God. One cannot go before God without a clean soul, a soul that is warped in sin. When someone obeys the truth and is baptized, they understand the Love of God and Christ and will in turn love one another. If we don’t read about true love, how can we display it?

Remember the Bible is our light.

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.”

John 17:17 “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”
